About Olympic FC

Olympic FC was founded in 1967 by Greek immigrants, under the name Pan Rhodian Soccer Club, affiliated with Queensland Soccer Association. The following year the club joined the Queensland Soccer Federation, changing its name to Brisbane Olympic United as a condition of joining the federation. The club colours were originally blue and white until changing to red and white in the late 2000s. In 2008, the club again changed its name to Olympic FC upon joining the Queensland State League (QSL). After playing in the QSL in 2008 and 2009, the club elected to play in the Brisbane Premier League for the 2010 season. The Queensland State League was ultimately superseded by the National Premier Leagues competition. In 2013, Olympic FC was awarded a license to compete in the inaugural Queensland National Premier Leagues season, a recognition of the club’s stature in the state. The FQ Academy pathway offered at Olympic FC is the beginning of the most advanced pathway offered at the football club. The FQ Academy aims to provide a clearer development pathway from community football to Australia’s national teams and professional leagues. The FQ Academy is designed to accelerate development of identified players between the ages of 9-12. In the Junior Academy there is a heavy focus on developing the 4 core skills as per the FA Curriculum including: finishing, Passing and receiving, 1v1 defending and dribbling. These core skills are viewed as the foundational skills of any footballer and the program aims to develop these skills in players and giving them the tools to transfer them into game like scenarios. Olympic FC is one of the few clubs in the South Brisbane area which deliver this program. The U10 to U12 FQ Academy program will compete in the FQ Academy League 2 South in 2024. All teams in the Junior Academy at the are non-competitive and play in 9v9 small-sided forms of the game on half a field. The FQ Academy U13 – U18 focuses heavily on preparing players for the performance phase by developing tactical awareness, perception and decision making through a game-related approach to training. U13 FQ Academy sides play 9-a-side on a field which runs box to box. The U13 side competes in the FQ Academy League 2 with results being recorded. U14 – U18 sides play 11-a-side and will also compete in the FQ Academy League 2. All coaches in the Olympic FC FQ Academy program have a minimum of a ‘C’ License.
